My first language is Spanish and I did not think this was going to be an issue as well my clinical experience was filled with the knowledge I thought was going to help me with this exam, but after failing, I knew I needed more guidance to this exam. When I met Dr. Steve I was in the most academically defeated phase of my entire life. I had failed the EPPP twice. I had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on testing material, retakes, and practice exams. I had spent energy, time, and tears on something that had felt, at that time, unconquerable. Dr. Steve is an incredibly gifted tutor.
He has the ability to make any material digestible and comprehensible, whether it be the most mundane, or most difficult.

Dr. Steve’s study groups provided me a solid guideline on how to study and gave me a structure for me to tailor what worked for me. I was very overwhelmed with all the material that was out there from prep companies. I eventually picked Prepjet but even so it was still overwhelming and I didn’t know HOW to study. I initially started out with Dr. Steve’s study groups as a way to motivate me to keep me going down the path of passing the EPPP. From late April of 2023 through October of 2023 I was passively studying and just attending the study groups to get my brain going and churning. By the time I hunkered down to start actively studying from October 2023 to January 2024, I was already familiar with the material and just needed to master them. The handouts were very helpful in supporting me to remember topics I struggled with along with them being a starting point of how I made my own study guides and flashcards. I ended up making a bunch of my own study guides based off of Dr. Steve’s handouts in combination with Prepjet’s summaries. I only did flashcards for things I just really could not retain and needed to just go ahead and memorize (like the drugs and mechanism of action, etc). In addition, I would heed Dr. Steve’s advice on not just focusing on the “Big 6” as Prepjet advises. Although I heavily focused on the big 6, I did study 2 other areas of topics (Learning & Memory and Social Psychology). I didn’t review the other as I had no time left to go through them. There were some life circumstances that made things limiting for me in terms of dedicating a ton of time to focus and so there was no way for me to review every topic in Prepjet. I truly believe mastering the Big 6 and the extra 2 topics was what got me the points I needed to pass. Knowing myself and how I learn I didn’t think I could really master the Big 6 in a way that would get me that 500+. I’m glad I listened to Dr. Steve. For the other areas of topics (Research and Stats, Psych Assessment, and Test Construction), I only reviewed Dr. Steve’s handouts briefly a few times and to my surprise, I easily learned and remembered how to calculate a confidence interval amongst a few other things! I never needed to utilize individual tutoring sessions so study groups alone was sufficient if it fits into what works for you! I also had to shift my mindset and told myself “when I pass” and “I already passed” instead of “if I pass” or “what if I fail.” I’m so happy this part is over! Thank you Dr. Steve! - Amy Linsao

I met Dr. Steve after failing the EPPP two times. I was at a low point in my life, feeling hopeless,
exhausted, and embarrassed. I was 2.5 years into my post-doctoral fellowship and was feeling
pressure to become licensed. After my second fail, I made the tough decision to stop working and
go on medical leave to focus on my mental health. At the onset of my leave a friend introduced
me to Dr. Steve, and we began working together the following week.
What I appreciated most in working with Dr. Steve was his authenticity, honestly, and dedication

My experience with EPPP was unique. I learned through the wisdom of Dr. Haran, this exam is more than memorizing. It's about, do you know what each domain is specifying what you should know, and can you apply it. Application for me turned into the key. I could remember probably more than 68% of material, but I could not apply what I recalled when it is given in question form. I learned to, and I quote, “ explain it to me like I was a five year old”. (Denzel Washington: Philadelphia). Conceptualizing became the key for me. Once I understood where I could explain it to a five year old, no matter how they presented the question, it helped me key in on the answer. So when Doc says this is a blended exam, that’s the key to really understanding and being able to blend it in your own words is the way you will pass! - Ken Gardner

I started this process in 2021 having no idea what I was doing and I failed. Tried it a second time in 2022 with some study materials but was not structured and honestly had no idea of what I was doing or how to study the material, and failed. Dr. Steve was immense help! My individual and group time with him really made the material come to life and make sense. Also, the way he helped me structured and organized my studying in a realistic way while considering my circumstances was incredible helpful. I failed the EPPP after doing what I believed to be A LOT of studying. I studied using psychprep and felt lost after because I felt like I reviewed/memorized everything. A friend connected me with Dr. Steve and he almost immediately let me know that I didn't know the material as well as I thought I did. It turns out I did a heck of a good job memorizing all the basic information in psychprep but didn't have a deep understanding of some of the more complex subjects. Dr. Steve pushed me to sign up with prepjet and provided me with his study method. After mastering his method, and attending group sessions on the topics I found more challenging, I started to feel like I was in a place to take the exam over again. But instead of jumping right in I decided to do some individual sessions with Dr. Steve to make sure I had a deep understanding of the material, and it was worth it. After 5 individual sessions, Dr. Steve told me I was teeming with so much EPPP knowledge that there was nothing else left to do. He was right, I passed with a 555, 6 months after failing with a 487. My major takeaway from working with him is that you cannot base your study habits on the habits/recommendations of your colleagues. Usually, you'll hear that people study for 2 hours a day for 6 months. The reality is that this will not lead to a passing score for everyone because some people, like myself, need more time. It's important to figure out what you need to do to ensure your success. I would recommend Dr. Steve to anyone who is struggling to pass or is under a lot of pressure to pass on the first go. When I think about this licensing process and passing the EPPP exam, the thought that comes to mind is that I never really knew I needed something until I had it. My first attempts at the exam were pointless. I didn’t study, I didn’t know how to study and it wasn’t until Dr. Steve helped me to conceptualize a plan, that I understood what it would take to pass. I began my EPPP journey in 2020. After plenty of failed attempts with scores in the high 400s, I felt discouraged, unmotivated and hopeless. It wasn’t until the beginning of 2022 that my friend informed me of Dr. Steve’s group and individual services. Mind you I was a little skeptical due to the fact that I have had coaches in the past and well, it was an unfortunate experience. Nonetheless, I decided to take a chance and am glad that I did. Dr. Steve came highly recommended to me by a friend who had recently passed the EPPP with his help. "I had attempted and failed the EPPP 3 times before I met Dr. Steve. At the time, I had every requirement met to get licensed, except for passing this test. In the midst of these 3 tries I had finished postdoc and was moving states, as well as starting a new job, while studying. My journey to passing the EPPP was one I never would have imagined. Looking at my academic background, I can truthfully say I have never struggled passing a test or achieving grades that I was proud of. My outlook towards this exam was "I'll buy a study package, buckle down and learn it, and pass". I studied extensively with AATBS and PrepJet materials for 4-5 months before my first attempt at the EPPP in July 2021. I missed it by 20 points and was devastated. I assumed that I only needed a few more points, so I signed up again and in August 2021, I failed the exam for a second time. I didn't understand how I could study for so long, feel I understood the material, and still fail!

Driving back from my second failed attempt, my mom found Dr. Steve online. I felt I had nothing to lose, so we reached out to him and began my real journey to the EPPP. I knew the content, but was completely unable to apply it in a way that would allow me to pass the exam. After working with Dr. Steve for 9 months, I took the exam and passed. Dr. Steve was able to figure it out where my thinking was going wrong, and how to change my method. I hated studying for this exam (again), but Dr. Steve provided reassurance and hope along the way.
